Introduction:

Dr. Purnima Satoskar  is a senior consultant  in obstetrics and gynecology  at Jaslok Hospital and has a vast experience in the field. Her area of special expertise is in managing high risk pregnancies and in problems affecting the fetus.

Dr. Purnima Satoskar believes that preconception counselling, early screening for pre-eclampsia, endocrine problems and chromosomal abnormalities and close monitoring for fetal anomalies, growth and well-being throughout pregnancy are key elements to ensure a successful outcome in pregnancy. Dr. Satoskar receives referrals for patients with recurrent pregnancy losses and various fetal problems. She is experienced in fetal diagnostic procedures including amniocentesis, chorion villous sampling and fetal therapy including fetal blood transfusions for red cell isoimmunized pregnancies and radiofrequency ablation surgery for identical twin pregnancies with severe Twin-twin transfusion syndrome.

Dr. Purnima Satoskar has authored over 43 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. She is a Professor at Seth GS Medical College and Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital, on the board of PCPNDT Committee and Chairperson, Institutional Ethics Committee, National Institute of Immunohaematology of ICMR.
