The Department of Haematology offers state-of-the-art equipment to analyse and treat all types of haematological disorders. The department has a fully automated coagulation analyser capable of performing all coagulation parameters and specialised tests.

The interpretation of the coagulation tests done by the department facilitates adequate component therapy in patients with bleeding disorders. Tests for diagnosis and strategy for management of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) are performed using advanced technologies.
The department also features thromboelastography (TEG) assays (on the Steranco instrument) for the measurement of haemostasis and therapeutic management.
In addition to all these services, other specialised tests like HPLC (onboard D10 instrument) and bone marrow aspirate reporting are also performed in the department. Routine haematological tests include a state-of-the-art 6-part CBC auto analyser from Sysmex, a fully automated coagulation analyser from STAGO and a fully automated ESR analyser.
A wide range of haematology investigations is routinely performed to facilitate clinical colleagues in the proper management of their patients. The Haematology Division has a 6-colour Flow Cytometry machine from BD Biosciences. It is used for Leukaemia/Lymphoma/Myeloma and B-MRD panels along with the CD34 counts, T-cell subset analysis and PNH. There is a full panel of investigation for haemolytic anaemia, iron deficiency anaemias and anaemias secondary to chronic diseases.
