Introduction:

Dr Sonar Narula is a graduate of the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College at Sion, Mumbai and did her MD in Microbiology from Goa Medical College. With more than 2 decades of experience in Clinical Microbiology & Hospital Infection Control in major hospitals in Mumbai and Kerala, she has worked for nearly 18 years in Jaslok Hospital as Consultant and Head of the Department of Microbiology. She ushered in an era of modernization, automation, excellence and safety in Clinical Microbiology & Hospital Infection Control through changes in equipment, training of Personnel, Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Assurance programs. She successfully led the Department through successive successful NABH and SAFE – I accreditation programs, and now brings the same thoroughness of method and passion for excellence to the Department of Laboratory Medicine, which she now heads since June 2022.
