Introduction:

Dr. Arun Mehra is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon as well as an Entrepreneur. He founded the state-of-the-art Super Specialty Hospital in Surat with total bed strength of 108 with full NABH Accreditation.

Dr. Mehra had a brilliant career as a medical student. He was awarded 4 gold medals for MBBS Surgery, MS Surgery, Best Outgoing Student and University Gold Medal for Surgery. After passing MCh from Bombay, Dr. Mehra went to London where he obtained Senior Fellowship in Cardiac Surgery from the world famous St. Thomas' Hospital, where he spent more than 6 years. He then returned from London and joined the prestigious Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre in the year 1995. 

Dr. Arun has performed over 5000 coronary artery Bypass operations and he is specialist in Total Arterial Grafting using LIMA, RIMA, Y graft. He has been a pioneer of Octopus Micas Off Pump Surgery in India. He has performed the 1st Beating Heart Surgery in Mumbai using Octopus in May 1998, at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre. Mr. Eric Jaansen, the inventor of Octopus stabilizer was also invited to the workshop.

Dr. Mehra is also the 1st surgeon in Asia to perform Impella device supported Cardiac surgery. He has performed 3 successful cases of Impella LV support out of which the 1st case was performed at Jaslok Hospital itself. He also managed the 1st successful ECMO "Bridge to recovery" procedure at Jaslok Hospital in a code blue survivor.
