Introduction:

Dr Altaf Patel has been Honorary Professor in Medcine at the JJ Group of Hospitals and Honarary Physician to JJ Hospital. He joined the JJ Group of Hospitals in 1977 and was until 2007. During these years he taught MBBS, MD and FCPS students and has been examiner for MBBS, MD and FCPS in Mumbai and for the MRCP practical exam the PACES in London & International. He was the 1st Indian to be qualified by the International Board of Clinical Metal Toxicity in India. 

Dr. Patel has been a Sitting Member of the Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai, President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai and a member of the permanent examination committee. He has been a Medical Columnist for 25 years for leading Mumbai news-papers and contributed to the best- selling book Dear People With Love and Care your doctors, by writing the opening chapter. He has spoken at many national and international conferences.
