The Department of Urology was established in 1973 and since then, have the distinction of being the first private Urology Hospital.

On an average, we do 100 renal transplants in a year, largest in the state of Maharashtra.

Launch of Nephrology Department

Set up an Artificial Kidney Department (AKD) and providing the services to the patients was a First-of-its-kind endeavour in a private-sector hospital in India.

Launch of Nuclear Medicine

One of the first departments in the country to get a triple-head gamma camera and the first solid-state dedicated Cardiac camera in Asia.

Recently, a 5-ring 16-slice PET-CT scanner added to the list.

The World of Hypo & Hyper was born 46 years ago

The endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism unit at Jaslok Hospital have been functional since its inception 46 years ago. We were the first hospital in the country to set up Radioimmunoassay (RIA) on a regular basis.

Late 70’s

A distinction of being the first hospital in Mumbai to introduce 2D Echocardiography. Also the first to perform Electrophysiology study (EPS), first to use an Impella left ventricular assist device, implantation of the first drug-eluting stent and also pioneering the first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR).

Imaging & Interventional Radiology

The department of Imaging and Interventional Radiology at Jaslok Hospital is one of the well-known leading centres for both diagnostic and Interventional Radiology in India, since 1984.

Spasticity Clinic

Functional Neurosurgical program was established in 1988. The only comprehensive Functional Neurosurgical program in India. The first and only multidisciplinary program having movement disorder specialist, paediatric neurologist, epileptologist, stroke expert and headache specialist.

Inauguration of the Department of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics

Treated 6000+ couples from every state of India and from 50 different countries resulting in the birth of over 20,000 + babies.

Headache Clinic

The first speciality clinic in the country catering to the needs of chronic headache patients was launched by the Department of Neurology in 1995.

Urology Department

Performed the first bladder pacemaker in India.

Liver Transplant

Performed the first successful living-related Liver Transplant in the country and the first Liver Transplant in Western India.

Neuropsychiatry Clinic

The first institute in India to begin a Neuropsychiatry service in 1999

Department of Neuro-sciences

Introduced brain perfusion imaging in India and recently got Dopamine Transporter (DAT) Imaging for Parkinson’s disease for the first time in India, first surgery for Writers’ Dystonia and Cervical Rhizotomy in India in 2012. Successful DBS surgery performed for a patient with Autism, first of its kind in India and second in the world in 2017. The patient spoke for the first time post-surgery in November 2016.

We performed the world’s first successful for the Control of Tremors on SCA 12 (Spinocerebellarataxia).

Oncology

First hospital to do a successful Bone Marrow Transplant in India. 550 + Bone Marrow Transplants have been done till now.
