Introduction:

Dr. Shaival Chandalia is a consultant endocrinologist and diabetologist at Jaslok hospital. He completed his undergraduate training at T.N. medical college and Nair hospital, Mumbai. He further completed his postgraduate training ( equivalent to MD, General Medicine) at St. Louis University hospital,  St. Louis ,USA and was awarded Diplomate, American Board of Internal Medicine in 2005. His fellowship training in Endocrinology and Diabetology was at UT Southwestern Medical Centre,Dallas, USA in 2007. 

 He has been practising as an Endocrinologist and Diabetologist at  Jaslok hospital and his private clinic for the past  17 years. He has been a speaker at various academic  conferences and has numerous publications to his credit. He has helped author educational material for diabetic patients. This includes a chapter in a book for patients called  ‘ Conquest of Diabetes by Diet and Exercise’  which emphasises lifestyle intervention  in the prevention and treatment of diabetes. He has also helped edit a lay magazine for patients, ‘ Diabetes Today’  . Finally, he has contributed chapters to the prestigious RSSDI textbook of Diabetes which provides an Indian perspective to the field of diabetes and is meant for diabetologists.
