Area of Expertise:

  • Providing clinical care for HIV-infected patients with or without co-morbid conditions who are either symptomatic or asymptomatic.
  • Sequencing ART among patients on failing therapy across different classes of drugs &/or developing resistance.
  • Providing clinical care for heavily treatment experienced patients.
  • Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
  • Conception in sero-discordant couples.
  • Assisted Reproductive Techniques (A.R.T.) for safe and HIV negative conception among HIV-infected patients in Serodiscordant relations.
  • Counselling for HIV-infected patients to ensure overall well-being physical,social and psycho-sexual.

Introduction:

Dr. Raj Harjani, Consultant Infectious Diseases comes with a rich experience of over 40 years in Infectious Diseases. After completing his MBBS (1977) in Topiwala National Municipal Medical College and B.Y.L. Nair Hospital Mumbai and D.V&D (1979) from Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital Mumbai, he then visited overseas to complete his MIAS (Switzerland). He underwent specialized training in AIDS at ARCON (AIDS Research & Control Centre) which is a collaborative program of Government of Maharashtra and The University of Texas, Houston, USA. He also visited Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals (1994-1997), John Hopkins Medical Institute JHMI, MD; USA (2005, 2006, 2008) and Helen Joseph Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa (2013). He is actively involved in research and has conducted research on HIV Genotypic drug resistance test in treatment of naive and experienced patients with Dr. Ram Malkani, Department of Dermatology, Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre. He also holds honourable position at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital.Kalwa,Thane M.S.India.
