Introduction:

Dr Gautam Zaveri is one of the leading spine surgeons in India. He has developed a comprehensive non-operative program for the management of various spinal ailments. He has an extensive experience in major reconstructive surgeries for the treatment of a variety of spinal ailments including fractures, tumors, tuberculosis, deformities of in adults and children. He is also an expert on minimally invasive and endoscopic surgeries of the spine like Microdiscetomies, microdecompression for spinal stenosis and minimally invasive spinal fusions besides vertebroplasty, etc.

Dr. Zaveri is on the managing council of the Association of Spinal Surgeons of India. He is sought after as a speaker/demonstrator at various national and international spine workshops, symposia conference and postgraduate teaching courses. He has written many articles in national and international journals as well as chapters in textbooks of spine surgery.

He is credited with the development and popularization of the following spinal surgeries:

• Stepwise protocol for management of thoracolumbar trauma
• Acute vertebral shortening for thoracolumbar trauma
• Posterolateral approaches to tuberculosis of thoracic spine
• Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion for lumbosacral tuberculosis
