Dr Vivek Shetty is a Consultant Gastrointestinal, Hepato-pancreato-biliary and Liver transplant surgeon with more than 13 years of experience.
Dr Shetty completed his post-graduation training from KEM Hospital, and have assisted in and performed complex general surgical procedures under expert guidance. He also gained significant experience in managing trauma and emergency General and Gastrointestinal conditions.
Dr Vivek completed his speciality training in Surgical Gastroenterology at Jaslok Hospital, a major tertiary care and referral institute in Mumbai. Here, he has assisted and performed several major hepato-biliary, pancreatic and colorectal procedures, surgeries for abdominal trauma, advanced Laparoscopic procedures, GI emergencies and in liver transplantation. He has also managed patients with acute pancreatitis, liver failure, post-operative complications and critically ill patients. He has also been actively involved in academic programmes including case presentations, journal club, and training of junior doctors at graduate and postgraduate level.
After completion of his course in surgical gastroenterology he continued to work at Jaslok Hospital & has assisted in several liver transplants in both cadaveric and live donors. He has also been involved in their preoperative workup and postoperative management.
His areas of special interest are Surgeries for Liver and Biliary cancers and Surgeries for Pancreatic tumours. He also interested in using Laparoscopic and Minimal access surgical techniques in complex surgeries with the goal of reducing the morbidity of major surgery.
