MRgFUS is a revolutionary, non-invasive surgical technology that combines two powerful tools: High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) to treat tissue and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to guide the treatment.
Think of it like using a magnifying glass to focus sunlight onto a single point to create heat. In MRgFUS, multiple beams of ultrasound energy are focused on a tiny spot deep inside the body. Individually, the beams pass through skin and bone harmlessly, but at the point where they converge, they generate enough heat to destroy (ablate) diseased tissue without a single incision or a drop of blood.
