Gynaecology & Obstetrics

The Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has been in function since the inception of Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre in 1973. The department used to have facilities of 2 labour rooms and a full-fledged maternity ward with trained nurses and other personnel related to obstetrics. The department was also the 1st of its kind to have an NST machine to record foetal heart rate during the antenatal period. It was also one of the few hospitals to acquire 2 ultrasound scan machines to diagnose patients in both obstetrics and gynaecology patients accurately.

The operation theatres were fully functional throughout the day, and facilities were available for epidural anaesthesia during labour. Spinal anaesthesia for C-sections and complicated cases were often referred from other hospitals because of the efficiency of the department.  This trend has continued since then, and the department has now become a high-risk pregnancy centre with consultants who specialise in foetal medicine.

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology offers a range of services, including preventive care, reproductive health, pregnancy care, childbirth, and postpartum care. The staff at the department is passionate about providing personalised care to each patient, and they work closely with patients to develop individualised treatment plans to meet their specific needs.

Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre provides this service during emergencies as well.
